After drawing my base, I copied the design onto watercolour paper so I could try different ways of colouring my mandala. For my first one I used coloured pencils and a blender also for the first time. Here is how mine turned out.
I watched an online workshop with Carrie Brummer of Artist's Think on Sept 30, 2015 to learn about mandalas.

I have played with some ideas for pocket letters until I was introduced to Art Journal Pockets by Tangie Baxter. This is the first art journal pocket page I have completed. I struggle with using ready made backgrounds and am just starting to try lettering. I had fun using sheet 115 from Tangie Baxter's Art Journal Pockets free workshop and here is my travel pocket page results. I used a Spellbinders enhancing elements oval to emboss some of the cards and rubbed metallic wax on the raised areas. I used oil pastels to outline the cards and some of the elements. I've managed to play a little with the starter pack and boy is there a lot of lovely stuff in there. I used RM101 and RM103, a quote that came to me watching an inspirational movie mixed in with changed up song lyrics and phrases from scrapbook paper. There is also ink, acrylic paint and washi tape on my page. I have almost completed another page with the 9 cards from the two sheets. This is the second page set I did with the other pieces of RM101 and RM103 that I didn't use the first time. I used the "For this day" quotes again and plan to send this one away soon. Here is another sheet done with RM103 again. This time I added paper cord made from chocolate bar foil and some torn pieces of the foil. I stamped words from a typewriter stamp set onto the white layer of paper napkins and glued them on with decoupage medium. I am loving doing Art Journal Pages. This is my fifth and final for now Art Journal Pocket page. It is done with a collage sheet available from Tangie Baxter's Art Journal Emporium subscription. I used an ultra fine black Sharpie marker for my journaling and outlined or underlined some of the words with a turquoise Crayola washable marker. I used two sizes of Spellbinders Enhancing Elements Gold Ovals One to emboss 2 of the cards and rubbed Inka Gold purple on the top right card and turquoise antiquing wax on the lower left card.
I had these journal covers started awhile ago but felt they needed something more. Then came Tangie with great collage sheets and here is my result. I started with recycled cardboard from tissue boxes, added some tape and pieces of torn paper from one of my gellie prints. Now I have added pieces from the collage sheets, punched with my Rubicoil and added 2 layers of cereal cardboard. These are nice thick covers that will be a composition sized junque journal for my sister.
I also tried my first video and I hope you like my beginners start.
Next I printed the Gellie Print background and hand rubber stamped several lace stamps on the background and scanned that image. I then printed a copy which I took to my sewing machine and stitched with black thread. This I like very much. So next I tried a full page Gellie print with digital stamps and left one stamp image black. Not bad. And the next one is a half page Gellie print which was again hand rubber stamped. This one is another one I like a lot. So now I make use of my collage sheets in my Glue Book. Both the left facing collages are with my collage sheets with Tangie Baxter images. The second collage has one of the Tangie Baxter images stitched. The two right facing collages are Tangie Baxter collage images with a couple of pieces left over from papers on my desk.
Before Christmas I knit these little bowls and felted them in the washing machine. I then decorated some with needle felting. This is one that did not get decorated at the time, but now I have done some needle felting on the outside.and made the base sturdier by needle felting the inside bottom of the bowl. This little bowl measures about 2.5 inches high by 3 inches in diameter.
I've done more pages in my Junque Journal including tip-ins, and an impulse collage page. This is another project from January/February 2009 Cloth paper scissors that has been on my to do list for a long time. I was gifted some fabric from Judy and it went well with some I bought from a quilting store in Armstrong several years ago and more from my stash, so the book has finally been made. I stitched the fabrics onto a felt backing, cut into a pocket shape from the magazine pattern and stitched it together with hand written and rubber stamped patches on the pages. The original project was bound with stab stitch binding, but I chose to sew over tapes and stitch them to the covers. I have started an online class with Tangie Baxter altering a composition book into a Junque Journal. This is a very fun class and so far I have added ribbon to reinforce the spine, added tabs to some of the pages, glued scrapbook and assorted papers over the tab pages, done some distress ink to crumpled pages and used Dylusions spray inks and stencils on some of the pages. I will decorated more of the pages soon but for now here is a slide show of the journal so far. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think. Using what is on my desk after finishing the journal page some pre-cut ATC backs a circles rubber stamp and words printed on cardstock I created these Words To Live By ATC for swapping. I have enough to make a total 12 ATCs.
I just joined yesterday, The Art Journal Emporium so I am new to the course and I have not done much journal work or collage. I used a printout from set 1 of fill in the blank pages printed on mixed media paper and painted with paintbox paint of unknown brand. The images come from a local store brochure, one of this months sets from the Art Journal Emporium and paper napkins. I did my spread on paper that I plan to add to the Junque Journal later. This has been fun and I am pleased with my results.
