My Birds before trading
These are all of my birds for our ATC group bird swap on Sunday, Jan. 17.
They are about 10 and a half inches tall. Mine are fabric over felt and cardboard, with bead stitched eyes and legs. I used fabric samples rescued from possible trash and remnants and rubber stamped various stamps on parts of the birds. I also coffee stained most of the beaks and wings. I crocheted small hearts with cotton thread and stitched them on the back. Some of the fabric is printed with a stencil on the Gellie plate. Most of the ones I got back in trade are paper over cardboard.
It was a great make and trade day and I got a lovely collection of birds back from the other members of the group.
I have added this post to the Lets Play link party on A Colorful Journey.

Woman Unleashed Journal Cover

PictureThe First Step.
I signed up for the free workshop "Woman Unleashed" run by Amber DivaDawn Bonnici  and have already watched the introductory video. So while I'm waiting for Dec, 20 for the workshop to start I have purchased a Fabriano EccoQua blanck journal which is 8.25 in. by 11.7 in. and worked on decorating the cover. I started with a Gellie print background which you can see in this post. Next I traced around a silhouette mask I found in a magazine and painted  with black and white acrylic paint which I loosely mixed on my palette. I used a cardboard tube to stamp a few more black circles on the page. The title is an outline font which is painted with acrylic paint and some of the journaling is computer generated. Fly is rubber stamped and coloured with Twistables Fun Effects crayons. Several other stamps were used and the circle border was coloured with Aquacolor crayons and blended with a water brush. I  bordered the paper with black acrylic, made torn edges and used decoupage medium to glue the finished design to my journal cover. I have tied three pieces of Boutique hand spun silk sari yarn to the spine to help reinforce the binding.

Gellie Plate Prints

On Tuesday after doing the Courage Journal Page in the previous post, I decided to play a little with my Gellie Plate. Probably inspired by Carolyn Dube's Tuesday Link Party Play. I used several stencils and craft acrylic paint to achieve the prints in the gallery below. Now they are just waiting for the right project to be used in.
Some of these prints are ghost images and some are clean up papers, some are even on the back side of another print.

I Am Free Journal Spread

11/17/2015

Today I worked on a journal spread from a workshop available on Bloknote website. I used my Gellie plate to make block prints as instructed in the workshop  although I used different colours.  Below are the resulting prints.
Next I printed the doll image provided by the instructor Marieke Blokland onto my Gellie print and outlined with a Sharpie marker. I painted an area where the doll is placed with antique white light acrylic paint, redrew the lines with the marker again. The next step was to paint the face, dress and hair with watercolours. The details on the doll are coloured with Crayola markers. I added washi tape on the edges and to scraps of the Gellie print and added tose to the pages. The left hand page is printed on the Gellie print and gold acrylic paint is painted over the text. I hand wrote free with Sharpie markers and added scraps of print with washi tape.
If you would like to check out more eye candy check out the link where I just added this to Carolyn Dybe's Let's Play Link Party.

Here is my finished spread and I am very pleased with the finished results.
