I stitched the fabrics onto a felt backing, cut into a pocket shape from the magazine pattern and stitched it together with hand written and rubber stamped patches on the pages. The original project was bound with stab stitch binding, but I chose to sew over tapes and stitch them to the covers.
This is another project from January/February 2009 Cloth paper scissors that has been on my to do list for a long time. I was gifted some fabric from Judy and it went well with some I bought from a quilting store in Armstrong several years ago and more from my stash, so the book has finally been made. I stitched the fabrics onto a felt backing, cut into a pocket shape from the magazine pattern and stitched it together with hand written and rubber stamped patches on the pages. The original project was bound with stab stitch binding, but I chose to sew over tapes and stitch them to the covers.

I have started an online class with Tangie Baxter altering a composition book into a Junque Journal. This is a very fun class and so far I have added ribbon to reinforce the spine, added tabs to some of the pages, glued scrapbook and assorted papers over the tab pages, done some distress ink to crumpled pages and used Dylusions spray inks and stencils on some of the pages. I will decorated more of the pages soon but for now here is a slide show of the journal so far. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think. |
