Journal Page for Journal 52 Week 5 and Art Journal Caravan

2/5/2016

I Believe
I was working on a monochromatic journal page for week 5 of Journal 52 when the itinerary 5 of the Art Journal Caravan came out, talk about serendipity. I divided my page into  lemon and greens and journaled about my continuing journey working on my intentions and goals that I posted last month. The background is Dylusions  spray and I covered the part of the page that I didn't want to get colour on, sprayed and spread the ink around with a wet brush. Repeated for the other colour. The jar for lemon water and the celery juice jar are stamped then painted with watercolours. Believe is an outline font image transferred and coloured with felt markers. The washi tape is from last months goodies in The Art Journal Emporium

Art Journal Caravan and Journal52

This is my journal spread for AJC itinerary 3 and Journal52 week 4 Full Moon. I used vintage music paper with a fox and goose illustration on it, but missed the lace. I have also included the quote from itinerary 3. I painted the background with gesso and acrylics, used stencils to wipe off some of the paint. My moon is painted with acrylic paint and has a bit of iridescent medium around the edge. The girl image is Carson from a digital kit by Rebecca McMeen.

Journal 52 Week 3

The challenge for week 3 over on Journal 52 was a prompt  to do a David Bowie lyrics and the alternate prompt is your favourite lyrics. I chose to do Space Oddity by David Bowie and Chris Hadfield. For my background I spread gesso on the pages, then used a bondo spreader to scrape black, blue, turquoise and iridescence acrylic paint over the page and then stenciled a city skyline on the bottom. The photos and lyrics were done digitally and glued on.

Woman Unleashed Journal Cover

PictureThe First Step.
I signed up for the free workshop "Woman Unleashed" run by Amber DivaDawn Bonnici  and have already watched the introductory video. So while I'm waiting for Dec, 20 for the workshop to start I have purchased a Fabriano EccoQua blanck journal which is 8.25 in. by 11.7 in. and worked on decorating the cover. I started with a Gellie print background which you can see in this post. Next I traced around a silhouette mask I found in a magazine and painted  with black and white acrylic paint which I loosely mixed on my palette. I used a cardboard tube to stamp a few more black circles on the page. The title is an outline font which is painted with acrylic paint and some of the journaling is computer generated. Fly is rubber stamped and coloured with Twistables Fun Effects crayons. Several other stamps were used and the circle border was coloured with Aquacolor crayons and blended with a water brush. I  bordered the paper with black acrylic, made torn edges and used decoupage medium to glue the finished design to my journal cover. I have tied three pieces of Boutique hand spun silk sari yarn to the spine to help reinforce the binding.

The Gentle Knitter Journal Page

PictureThis is the original image.
Yesterday was another day of a new journal page. This time I was reading "101 Mixed Media Techniques" published by Walter Foster and came to the page about printing on reclaimed paper. The process looked exciting so I just had to try it out right away. I found an image on my computer of a girl knitting, not sure of the original source,  but I changed the photo to black and white and printed it on a piece of brown paper. I was thrilled with the results, I feel that is gives an interesting depth to the photo so I put together this journal page by spaying coffee and fired brick walnut ink through a lace runner on the journal page and used several hand writing rubber stamps along with a Tim Holtz  pen nib stamp and a Quietfire "cherish" word stamp. The image was torn and glued on along with computer generated words printed on Gellie print scraps.

Learn To Crochet Journal Page

Today I have an oops, not an art oops but a blog oops, I did this journal page on Nov. 13 but never published it to my blog. So here it is today. This is a two page spread plus one more page in my journal telling a little bit about my start at crocheting. I used Rebecca McMeen's Dragon Lace kit and a paint splatter for another kit from Tangie Baxter. The journaling is done in Tangie Baxter Canary. The single page is a collage of some of the pages from the very old Learn How book that I used.

PictureThe shaped insert page with my description.
This page was designed mostly digitally using Rebecca McMeen’s  Jane set. I have also used stamps from Tim Holtz Nature stamp set. The rest of the journaling is Undercurrent BTN. I used white acrylic paint and drywall tape as a stencil and a circle mark making tool. The face is stamped with Jet Black Archival ink and the feathers are stamped with Walnut Stain distress ink.
This is my entry on Carolyn Dube's Link Party this week.

True Friend Journal Page

This journal page is from last week, but I never had time to post it until now. For this one I started with a paper napkin gift from a friend and I really wanted to build my page around it. The background is a freebie from my desktop publishing programe  as is the image of the book and other things at the top of the page. The sentiment "little itty bitty pieces of me is from Rebecca McMeen's Jane kit. I used stencils and other mark making tools with antique white acrylic paint on the page after gluing the paper napkin with matt medium. The red checkered strip at the top of the napkin image is a border stamped on paper tape.

Floral Journal Spread

I continued some more project today and actually did get some ATC's made, but will share wait till later to share those. But wait, there's more, I continued with another journal spread. I signed up a few days ago for another online class, this one from Jessica Sporn Floral Canvas Class. This really took me out of my comfort zone but I kept going with layers of acrylic paint, Portfolio pastels, and Conte a Paris black pencil. No disrespect to Jessica Sporn's teaching skill, but though I am pleased with my first attempt I will practice some more. All in all a very fun day.
I shared this on Carolyn Dube's Link Party where you can find more wonderful posts.

Being Happy Journal Page

This isn't what I started to do today when I got supplies out, what ever happened to those ATC's I planned on doing? Oh well, another time, but I'm pleased with my page for today. I took inspiration from Marjie Kemper to do a little Distress Ink blending and rubber stamping. I used dusty concord, shaded violet, squeezed lemonade, shabby shutter and forest moss. I need more practice, but then the sentiment says it all, doesn't it? The rubber stamping was with Inkadinkado 60-30496 Meadow clear stamp set and jet black Archival Ink. The sentiment was stamped on tissue paper with leaf green Archival Ink and applied with matte decoupage medium. I'm always happy to hear from the lovely people who visit me here so any comment you have are welcome.
